Welcome to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Library

The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) library was established in 1986 in its present place and less than 100 books were available and very few readers were consulting the facilities and by the passage of time its readers, materials and requirements are being increased manifold. Now the books have increased about 10,000.

The total strength of PIMS was 2451 and which has now become 3241. This includes 568 Nurses, 240 doctors, Paramedics 296, Postgraduate Residents 427, House Officers 168 and 1542 Ancillary Staff .In future the strength will be increased as various new projects like Cardiac Centre, Liver Transplant and Burn Centre are completed. Every day the readers i.e. doctors, Postgraduate Residents complaining about space as they feel discomfort in their peaceful study and only 30-35 readers can be benefited at a time, while we cannot accommodate more than that as in evening and night the readers increase.

The present of library Covered area is about 2000 sq. ft.

Library Collection

At present the collection of books is more the 10000. The number of Reference books on different medical subject are 2000. We have Text Books on all Medical subjects.
